(VOVWORLD) -A ceremony was held in Ha Giang province on Friday to confer the title “National Intangible Cultural Heritage” to local traditions and customs and launch tours of terraced fields in Hoang Su Phi district.

The National Intangible Cultural Heritage certificate was presented to the Ban Vuong worshiping ritual of the Dao ethnic group in Ho Thau commune and the New Corn Worshipping ceremony of the Co Lao ethnic group in Tung San commune.
Chairman of the Ha Giang Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Son said: “Along with pride is our responsibility to preserve our intangible cultural heritages. The culture, sport and tourism sector, the People's Committee of Hoang Su Phi district, local authorities need to build programs to further promote the values of ethnic cultural heritages."
"We also need to encourage local people to actively participate in spreading and practicing traditional rituals in the community, thereby promoting and building attractive cultural tourism products and services to generate income and improve people's living standards,” said Mr. Son.
The program "Travel through the heritage of Hoang Su Phi terraced fields" will take place until the end of this month with many interesting activities such as the Mong ethnic culture festival, and a paragliding show over terraced rice fields.
In addition, the program also includes sports activities, tours of local cultural and ecological sites in communes and towns throughout Hoang Su Phi district.
The terraced fields in Hoang Su Phi cover more than over 3,700 hectares of 24 communes and towns in Hoang Su Phi district. They were formed hundreds of years ago by La Chi, Dao, and Nung ethnic communities.
