Project enhances climate change resilience of Mekong Delta provinces
(VOVworld) – A project was launched in the Mekong Delta province of Can Tho Tuesday to encourage biodiversity and strengthen ecological climate change resilience. The project, launched by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and the Southwest Steering Committee, will help Mekong Delta provinces enhance resilience. Scientists recommended that rice production focus more on quality and value rather than volume. It was also recommended that rice should be partially replaced by other varieties suited to local conditions and less harmful to nature.

Consultant Duong Van Ni said: “The project is based on the experience of scientists who have been working in the Mekong Delta for years. They will contribute opinions to the planning at provincial and regional level toward sustainable development. The project will produce economic benefits while protecting the environment and preserving the regional biodiversity”.
