(VOVworld)- The Drafting Committee for Revising the 1992 Constitution and the National Assembly’s Standing Committee held a conference in Hanoi on Thursday to collect opinions from veteran Party and State leaders on constitutional changes. In his address, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung, who is President of the Drafting Committee, said that revising the 1992 Constitution is the key task of the whole political system and important work of the entire nation requiring urgency, caution, certainty and a scientific basis. Mr. Hung said that so far, more than 30,000 seminars and meetings had been held and 20 million comments had been collected. However, there were some cases of abusing the move in order to split national unity and undermine the Party’s leadership. Mr. Hung says: “We still study these comments and discuss them at the National Assembly, the Party’s Central Committee and the Political Bureau. We will discuss them within the Drafting Committee for Constitutional Revisions first, and at the National Assembly’s Standing Committee, the National Assembly and then publish them. We will not rule out any comment. It’s important that we collect the wisdom and aspiration of the majority of the people”.
The National Assembly Chairman expressed his hope that veteran Party and State leaders, with their years of experience, would contribute practical comments on the revised Constitution.
