Young Vietnamese people join the army

(VOVworld)- The Political Department of the Vietnam People’s Army and the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union have reviewed the implementation of the resolution on promoting the youth’s vanguard role in national construction and defense in the last five years. On Tuesday in Hanoi, the two agencies also signed a cooperative program of action for 2014-2018 to encourage youth participation in national defense. Duong Van An is Secretary of the Youth Union: "By implementing the resolution, we make military and non-military young people more aware of the importance of national defense. Defending the nation means defending national sovereignty, the Party, the State, the administration and the people. Defending national sovereignty is the responsibility of not only of the armed forces but also of all young people”.

Under the signed program, the youth union and the army will strengthen their cooperation in diversifying ideological and political education methods to help the younger people better understand the Party guidelines and State policies on national defense.
