(VOVworld) – British Prime Minister Theresa May has triggered Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty for the UK to leave the EU. Besides concerns over the future of the EU and Brexit consequences, German politicians have adopted positive views.

Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel said Germany and the EU should do everything to maintain a good and friendly relationship with the UK in the future. Ulrike Demmer, Vice speaker for the German Chancellor, said the UK will remain a key ally of the EU and the NATO.
Spain’s Embassy in the UK has established a section to support its citizens living in the UK. The government said it will negotiate to protect its citizens’ rights. Gibraltar, a peninsular of the UK in Spain’s southern coast, said it will belong to the UK after Brexit.
