Russia stands for equal and indivisible security for all members of the world community, Putin wrote. He said that all countries should have the right to the peaceful use of the atom without any preconditions, adding that Russia, as a party to the NPT, consistently follows its letter and spirit.
Russia’s obligations under bilateral agreements with the US on the reduction and limitation of weapons have been fully honored, according to Putin.
Russia expects that the Conference will reaffirm the willingness of all parties to the NPT to strictly comply with their commitments and will make a significant contribution to strengthening the nuclear non-proliferation regime to ensure peace, security and stability in the world, Putin said.
The 10th Review Conference of the NPT, delayed many times by the COVID-19 pandemic, is being held at UN headquarters in New York and is expected to run through August 26.
