Putin signs “counter sanctions” into law
(VOVWORLD) - Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday signed a bill on countermeasures against the US and other states that have imposed additional sanctions on Moscow since April.
The law allows for a temporary or definitive end to the diplomatic ties with the countries or entities that have engaged in unfriendly actions toward Russia and forbid the import of any items from these countries. Russia will restrict its cooperation with the US in atomic, plane and rocket manufacturing. Companies from the United States and other unfriendly countries will be prohibited from participating in state purchase contracts and privatization of public assets. Citizens of these countries, including experts, are restricted to work in Russia.
The bill was proposed by a group of lower house members led by State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin on April 13.
