(VOVworld) – Pyongyang on Thursday continued to appeal for peace and reconciliation with Seoul and urged the south to halt hostile military acts on the Korean peninsula.

In the latest open letter of North Korea’s National Defense Commission, Pyongyang said the most important factor in improving North-South relations is the steadfast will to stop all hostile acts, to overcome the barrier of confrontation and mutual suspicion. The Commission noted that Seoul should not misunderstand or hastily reject Pyongyang’s sincere proposal.

Last week Pyongyang made another call for Seoul to end provocative slanders and acts and urged Seoul to cancel joint military drills with the US scheduled for late February. But Seoul rejected the proposal, adding Pyongyang should take practical steps towards denuclearizing the peninsula.
