(VOVWORLD) - Quang Ninh province has reopened several tourist sites since March 2. However, it is forecast that the number of tourists to the province will not increase significantly between now and the end of the first quarter.

According to Nguyen Thuy Yen, Deputy Director of Quang Ninh's Tourism Department, the local tourism industry will take advantage of this time to train workers who have stopped working since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic to get ready for the market demand when tourism resumes.
“Due to the Covid-19 epidemic, 7,800 workers, 30% of the tourism industry, lost their jobs and 50% took unpaid leave. The Tourism Department will coordinate with related agencies to train and create jobs for workers of businesses affected by the pandemic,” said Yen.
Quang Ninh's Tourism Department is planning to host 150 events to stimulate tourism, targeting domestic markets such as Hanoi, Hai Phong, Da Nang, Khanh Hoa, and Ho Chi Minh City.
Quang Ninh hopes to welcome 10 million visitors this year.
