The event was organized by the Directorate of Fisheries, the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), and the German Agency for International Development Cooperation (GIZ). Tran Dinh Luan, Deputy Head of the Directorate of Fisheries, stressed the need to apply technological advances in production and focus on a proper farm model to minimize risks facing farmers: “The raising process plays an important in export. So it’s necessary to encourage farmers to form production links to create large farming areas, apply science and technology, reduce production costs, and improve product quality. Production inputs should be under close check.”

Vietnam earns more than 3 billion USD from shrimp export each year. Shrimp production creates about 2 million jobs and contributes to socio-economic development and stability. The Mekong delta has the most favorable conditions to develop into a shrimp production and processing zone of Vietnam.
