(VOVworld) – Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iranian President Hassan Rouhani discussed by phone yesterday the implementation of Iran’s nuclear agreement with P5+1.

The two presidents also discussed the Syria situation and the international conference on Syria at the end of January. Iran’s involvement in the Syrian issue remains controversial. Russia supports Iran’s role in the negotiation while the US insists Tehran respect the statement released at the Geneva conference last June. Washington demands that Iran support the resignation of the government led by President Bashar al-Assad before assuming any direct role.
