Russia, China sign a series of energy cooperation agreements
(VOVworld) - Chinese visiting President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin witnessed the signing of a number of agreements in energy, exploration, investments and fuel supplies. The two leaders held talks and inked a joint-declaration to strengthen cooperation for mutual benefits and the bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership. They chaired the signing of an agreement between Russia’s Rosneft energy group and Chinese state-owned enterprise CNPC. Accordingly, Russia will increase oil and gas supply to China from 15 million tons per year at present to 31 million tons per year in the next 25 years. As part of the deal, Rosneft will receive a 2 billion USD loan from China. Russia’s Gazprom and China’s CNPC signed an agreement to pump Siberian natural gas to northeastern China from 2018, with an initial supply of 38 billion cubic meters.
