(VOVworld)-Russia once again strongly condemned the US launching of air strikes against the Islamic State in Syria, saying at all counter-terrorism actions needed to comply with international law.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the 69^th session of the UN General Assembly, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Russia condemned the US air strikes and that air strikes against the IS in Syria also needed the Syrian government’s consent. During the meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, Lavrov confirmed Russia’s support for Iraq’s independence, territory integrity and sovereignty. He said that Moscow is ready to continue supporting Iraq’s efforts in fighting against the Islamic State.
