(VOVWORLD) -The Kremlin said Tuesday it will keep on demanding an international investigation into explosions that damaged the Nord Stream gas pipelines under the Baltic Sea last year, after failing to win backing for a probe at the United Nations.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Moscow is regretful about the decision by the UN Security Council not to support a resolution put forward by Russia and China for an international investigation of the Nord Stream blasts.
On Monday at the UN Security Council, the resolution to investigate failed to get the nine votes necessary for it to be approved. It was supported by just three countries - Russia, China and Brazil. No country voted against it, but 12 countries abstained from voting.
