(VOVWORLD) - The Russian State Duma on Tuesday approved a bill authorizing the president to impose sanctions in response to restrictions adopted by the US and its allies, as well as other "unfriendly states" against Russia.
But the sanctions will not be applied to vital goods or goods which Russia does not produce. They also will not apply to goods imported into Russia by Russian citizens, foreigners, or stateless persons for personal use. Foreign entities may also be banned from providing work or services for Russian state or municipal bodies, and from participating in Russian property privatization.
The bill will be sent to the Federation Council, then to the president for signing, before becoming effective.
