The same day, at a ceremony to sign a memorandum of understanding between the Kiev government and the Ukrainian World Congress, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseny Yatseniuk called on western countries to convene an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council and freeze Russia’s assets until Russian forces withdraw from the Ukrainian territory. But the Russian Defense Ministry said the accusations lack any solid evidence. Armed Ukrainian soldiers often cross the border into Russia but they are not detained. Nikolay Sinitsyn, a representative of the Border Guards of the Russian Security Force, reported that on Wednesday alone, 62 Ukrainian servicemen crossed into Russian territory seeking asylum.
