Russia rejects involvement of President Putin’s associates in “Panama document”
(VOVworld) - Russia has rejected an accusation that President Vladimir Putin’s associates are on a list of money laundering and tax evasion suspects leaked by Panama’s law firm Mossack Fonseca. Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov said President Putin, the Russian Federation, and coming elections are targets of a plot to cause instability and said the accusation lacks any concrete evidence.
Last week he warned that western intelligence agencies are behind efforts to smear President Putin and cause internal instability in Russia.
The leak includes more than 11.5 million documents from the archive of the law firm Mossack Fonseca in Panama, and reveals details concerning hundreds of thousands of customers in multiple jurisdictions. The “Panama documents” record Mossack Fonseca’s activities since 1975.
