Russia, Turkey agree to push for a ceasefire in Syria
(VOVworld) - The Russian Foreign Minister’s office on Tuesday announced that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu agreed in a telephone conversation on Tuesday to push for a ceasefire in Syria and to prepare for possible peace talks in the Kazakh capital of Astana. They stressed the importance of a rapid completion of agreements on practical parameters to end military actions in Syria, the separation of the moderate opposition from terrorist groups, and preparations for the meeting in Astana.

Lavrov said the Syrian government is conducting negotiations with the opposition prior to the meeting in Astana. According to a diplomatic source, the military officials of Russia and Turkey are currently holding talks in Ankara with the Syrian opposition on the parameters of a ceasefire in Syria.
