(VOVworld) – The Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, and U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry have emphasized the need for more cooperation between the two nations aimed at cementing truce in Syria.

In a telephone conversation on Sunday, the two diplomats committed to cooperation in the fight against terrorist groups such as Islamic State and Al Nusra. The two sides agreed to take additional measures to prevent human and weapon supplies from outside to terrorist groups. Mr. Lavrov and Mr. Kerry said they supported efforts by the UN envoy for Syria, Staffan de Mistura, in organizing the next round of talks between representatives of Syrian government and the opposition on Wednesday in Geneva, Switzerland.
