Russian expert applauds Vietnam's role in Eurasian integration
(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam’s pioneering role in the Eurasian integration progress was praised by Grigory Trofimchuk, Chairman of the Council of Experts of the Eurasian Research Fund.
According to his article published recently on the e-newspaper Infox.ru, Vietnam is consolidating its status by economic indexes, not statements. Although being dragged down by the COVID-19 pandemic, Vietnam’s GDP in 2020 was positive at 2.91%. The United Overseas Bank predicted that Vietnam’s economy will grow 7.1% in 2021, positioning Vietnam among the top Asia-Pacific countries in term of GDP per capita.
The article quoted reliable sources as saying Vietnam will be one of the 40 biggest economies in the world and the 4th in ASEAN. Trofimchuk said Vietnam has proven that trade liberalization can surmount all barriers, adding that a safe and stable investment environment guaranteed by the Government is the most reliable political foundation for long-term, large-scale economic activities.
Vietnam will enjoy breakthrough growth in the next decade, said Trofimchuk, who was confident that fruitful economic and trade cooperation between Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) will encourage other ASEAN members to engage more actively in Eurasian integration.
