(VOVworld) – Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke on the telephone with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani Monday about the current situation in Syria, including the recapture of Palmyra by the Syrian Army. The TASS News Agency said President Rouhani emphasized the importance of complying with the ceasefire and supporting the negotiation process.

The Kremlin said President Putin and President Rouhani discussed in detail the success of the Syrian Armed Forces who, with support from Russia’s Air Forces, have driven IS fighters out of the ancient town of Palmyra.
