(VOVworld) – Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday urged adjustment of Russia’s national security strategy to let Russia be better positioned in countering new external challenges and threats.

At a security council meeting on Friday, Mr. Putin said it is necessary to quickly analyze the whole spectrum of potential challenges and risks in politics, economy, information and so on. He added Russia would continue to carry out exchange and cooperation with different countries on the basis of mutual respect and taking each other’s interests into consideration but with a prerequisite of no endangering of Russia’s sovereign rights and security.

Mr. Putin said the West has failed to split the Russian society and Russia will continue implementing its independent internal and external policies despite outside pressure.
