(VOVworld) – On Thursday US Secretary of State John Kerry and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov agreed on the telephone to seek ways to achieve a ceasefire in Syria.

At a donors’ conference in London on Thursday, the US pledged 890 million USD for Syria and neighboring countries, 600 million of which is for humanitarian aid and the rest for development aid. The European Union committed 3 billion euros to help Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, and Turkey address the worst migrant crisis since World War 2. Earlier the British government said it will provide 1.7 billion USD for Syria and its neighbors. The conference aimed to raise 9 billion USD to aid Syrians affected by Syria’s 5-year civil war and other countries affected by the current migrant crisis in Europe and the Middle East.
