(VOVWORLD) - Russian presidential aide Vladimir Medinsky said that during 5 hours of talks on Monday between the Russian and Ukrainian delegations some common points had been found.

He said that during the negotiations in Belarus Gomel region, all items on the agenda were discussed in detail and common points were found.
For one thing the two sides agreed to continue the negotiations. The next meeting will take place soon on the Poland-Belarus border.
Adviser to the Ukrainian President Mikhail Podolyak said Ukraine’s main purpose was to discuss a ceasefire and the withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukraine. Both sides have identified priorities they would like to see included in any agreement.
The Kremlin said that in a phone call on Monday with President Putin, French President Emmanuel Macron said he hopes for a quick resolution of the conflict through dialogue and negotiations.
Russia is ready to negotiate with representatives of Ukraine and hopes they will have the desired result.
The UN General Assembly on Monday held an emergency special session on the Ukraine crisis, where Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called on both sides to stop fighting and withdraw all troops. Leaders of both countries, he said, need to negotiate and protect their people’s lives.
