(VOVworld) - Vietnam won seven gold medals, four silvers and eight bronzes on the fourth day of the ongoing 28th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Singapore on Tuesday, June 9. Vietnam now ranks third behind Singapore and Thailand, with 33 gold medals, 16 silvers and 38 bronzes. On day four, swimmer Nguyen Thi Anh Vien continued her impressive performance with two golds in the women’s 200m butterfly and 200m freestyle. She has so far broken seven SEA Games records, including the two made on Tuesday, and contributed six gold medals to Vietnam’s tally at this year’s regional event. Following a gold brought home by Nguyen Thi Thanh Phuc in the women’s 20-kilometre walk event on June 6, athlete Nguyen Van Lai won a gold medal in the men’s 5,000-metre race, shattering the SEA Games’ record with 14:04.82. Tran Phi Hung claimed victory after beating his fellowman Ma Minh Cam 100-92 in the final of the men’s 1 cushion carom event. Truong Thi Phuong dominated the women’s C1-200m event to win the first gold medal for Vietnam in canoeing while gymnast Pham Thi Ha Thanh claimed gold in the women’s vault event.
