Security Council condemns deadly attack on UN mission in Central African Republic
(VOVWORLD) - The UN Security Council on Tuesday strongly condemned the attack on the UN Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA), which resulted in the death of one peacekeeper from Cameroon and five injuries on Monday.

Council President Nicolas de Riviere of France highlighted the severity of the incident in Mbindale.
Council members said attacks against peacekeepers may constitute war crimes and emphasized the obligations of all parties under international humanitarian law. They urged the government of the Central African Republic to swiftly investigate this attack with the support of MINUSCA and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
MINUSCA was established in 2014 and is renewed every 12 months. The Mission is responsible for protecting civilians, protecting the peace process, and supporting implementation of the 2019 Peace and Reconciliation Agreement between the Government of the Central African Republic and 14 armed groups.
