Seminar looks at offshore wind power potential

(VOVWORLD) - A  seminar on offshore wind power took place in Hanoi on Wednesday, as part of the second Vietnam Wind Power Conference.

Speaking at the event, deputy head of the Electricity and Renewable Energy Authority Do Hong Quan said that Vietnam is facing challenges in ensuring a supply of electricity to meet a growing demand for energy. Renewable energy has a strategic importance for energy self-sufficiency, environmental protection, and fulfilling Vietnam’s commitments to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Quan said the seminar reviewed the latest technology in offshore wind power and suggested solutions to energy challenges faced by Vietnam.

The seminar was co-hosted by the Global Wind Energy Council, the German Agency for International Cooperation, and the embassies of Denmark and Ireland.
