Seminar on climate change adaptation and biodiversity
(VOV) – Hue city has hosted a seminar kicking off a project to reinforce mangrove forests for climate change adaption and bio-diversity in coastal lagoons in Thua Thien Hue province.
Yesterday’s event was held by the World Wildlife Fund, Nokia and Thua Thien Hue’s Agro-forestry Science and Technology Association. The project implemented from now until 2014 will expand mangrove forest planting and transfer sustainable forest management skills to the local people. Besides training courses to raise local people’s awareness of the benefits of mangrove forests and teach forest planting and management skill, the project will also finance the planting of 23,000 mangrove trees, upgrade the dyke system, and build environment- friendly aquaculture ponds.
