The seminar was co-organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the US embassy in Hanoi. According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, management of strategic goods is necessary in every country. Beside developing trade and investment ties with other countries, Vietnam has paid due attention to management of strategic goods. Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Cam Tu said the Government and related ministries and sectors have promulgated a number of policies to develop and stabilize exports and ensure national security: "Vietnam’s Government has promulgated detailed decrees of the Commercial Law on tax-levied goods, goods trading, processing and transit to other countries. Many related ministries and sectors have also issued a number of legal documents on management of normative and sensitive goods. Digitized decree is being amended to make it specific, transparent and match with the current laws".
At the seminar, international experts introduced knowledge and examples in controlling sensitive goods to make Vietnamese managers more aware of the importance of export management. Strategic goods management policy aims to control the delivery of goods which do harm to the society but still assure benefits for business enterprises in Vietnam.
