The Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences and the Lao National Institute of Social Sciences jointly organized a seminar to seek ways to strengthen the special friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos for the 2011 – 2020 period.

The seminar opened in Vientiane on Wednesday. Participants affirmed that the Vietnam – Laos special ties are growing in both width and depth. They also urged the two nations to continue organizing annual meetings of high-level leaders and increase public awareness of the special bilateral ties. Participants agreed that Vietnam and Laos need to work out an economic, cultural, educational, technical and scientific development strategy. The two nations should share views and support each other in a bid to fight divisive schemes by external hostile forces. The same day, Vietnam’s Ministry of Home Affairs and its Laotian counterpart signed a memorandum of strengthening cooperation on archival management.
