Shooting at Swedish consulate in Izmir, Turkey, injures one
(VOVWORLD) - A Turkish employee was seriously wounded in an armed attack at Sweden’s consulate in Izmir province on Tuesday.

Turkish authorities detained the armed assailant, who is of Turkish nationality, and launched an investigation, the governor’s office said.
Following the attack, the Swedish foreign ministry said it is in close dialogue with the Consulate General in Istanbul and its staff in Turkey. The ministry said it would not comment further “on the threat to the diplomatic service or what security measures are being taken.”
The attack occurred 24 hours after two men set fire to a copy of the Quran in front of the Swedish Parliament in Stockholm.
