Singapore supports ASEAN's efforts to improve situation in Rakhine state
(VOVWORLD) - Singapore strongly supports tASEAN's efforts to help improve the situation in Myanmar's Rakhine state and is ready to send more aid to Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh.

According to a correspondent of the Vietnam News Agency in Singapore, Singapore’s Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan on Friday said that Singapore has contributed more than 1 million SGD in humanitarian aid to both Bangladesh and Myanmar, and also contributed to overcoming consequences of natural disasters. Singapore's private and community organizations have also raised funds to support the essential needs of those living in refugee camps. Foreign Minister Balakrishnan stressed that Singapore strongly supports ASEAN's efforts to improve the situation in Rakhine state through projects such as providing radio receivers to the local community for better communication. He stated that Singapore is ready to support a comprehensive needs assessment in the future when the repatriation process of the Rohingya begins.
