(VOVworld) -  Hanoi has hosted a press conference on results of the diagnostic survey "Corruption from the Perspectives of Citizens, Enterprises and Public Officials". Speaking at the event on Tuesday, Deputy Inspector General Tran Duc Luong said the survey takes a closer look on the current corruption and anti-corruption situation in 10 cities and 5 sectors, with the focus given to the awareness, experience, and expectations of respondents.

World Bank Country Director for Vietnam Victoria Kwakwa said: “the report convinces us that provinces having implemented openness and transparency principles do have less corruption. Provinces engaging in administrative reforms and executive rotation also have lower levels of corruption. It shows that corruption is serious but not impossible to unroot. Transparency and accountability are vital for Vietnam development”.     

The sociological survey involved about 2600 citizens, 1000 businesses, and 1800 public servants. The findings will help policy makers to prevent the corruption in Vietnam.
