Son La honors UNESCO-recognized Xoe dance of Thai ethnic minority
(VOVWORLD) - The art of Xoe dance of Thai ethnic minority people in Vietnam listed as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity is the pride not only of the local community but also of all ethnic groups in Son La province, said Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee Trang Thi Xuan.

She told a program in Son La city on Saturday to honor Xoe Thai art that the province will focus on making Xoe Thai a highlight of tourism destinations and community tourism. The province will honor ethnic artisans, considering them as "living human treasures", and boost the collection, research and promotion of tangible and intangible cultural values of Thai ethnic culture, Xuan said.

The art of Xoe dance of Thai ethnic minority people in Vietnam was listed by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in December 2021.
Xoe Thai is a unique type of traditional dance that is associated with and plays a significant role in the daily life of Thai ethnic communities in the northwest of Vietnam, especially in the provinces of Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Son La and Yen Bai.
