Payne said Australia and South Korea share a similar outlook for a secure, open, prosperous Indo-Pacific that relies on free trade and the rule of law. She stressed Australia’s opposition to coercive economic practices which undermine rules-based trading.
Chung highlighted the pressing need to resume a dialogue with North Korea. Payne stressed that permanent peace and stability on the Korean peninsula will only be achieved through dialogue.
