Seoul's Foreign Minister Park Jin and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi expressed concerns about the explosive spread of COVID-19 in North Korea and discussed providing humanitarian aid to the North.
Park said North Korea's advancement in nuclear and missile capabilities worsens the situation on the peninsula and in the region, and called for cooperation between Seoul and Bejing to manage the situation.
He outlined Seoul’s vision of being a "global pivotal state" based on shared values and interests, and stressed the need to develop bilateral relations based on mutual respect and a spirit of cooperation.
Wang suggested deepening bilateral ties through high-level communications, cooperation, and cultural exchanges. He agreed to push for "strategic communications" for closer coordination in the economic and healthcare sectors, in dealing with climate change, and in expanding cultural and people-to-people exchanges.
