(VOVworld) – South Korea said on Wednesday that the time was not suitable to reopen the Kaesong joint industrial park with North Korea, as the North is beefing up the development of nuclear weapons and missiles.

Jeong Joon-hee, Seoul's Unification Ministry spokesman, told reporters that, at a time when North Korea poses nuclear and missile threats, it is nonsense to talk about the reopening of the factory zone. He added that the decision to shutdown Kaesong, which is built on North Korean land, was inevitable because the North has been engaging in nuclear and missile development and threatening the South’s national security.
Seoul closed the industrial park in response to Pyongyang’s 4th nuclear test in January and a long-range rocket launch in February.
