During a cabinet meeting on Tuesday, President Moon asked the Unification Ministry and the Ministry of Culture and Sports to quickly restore South-North Korean dialogue. The remark came a day after North Korean leader Kim Jong-un hinted at a resumption of inter-Korean dialogue and said his country was willing to send a delegation to the Games. Moon welcomed Kim’s remarks as a response to his proposal to turn the Games into a groundbreaking chance to improve South-North relations and establish peace.
South Korea has offered to hold high-level dialogue with the North in the truce village of Panmunjom. South Korea’s Defense Ministry said tensions on the Korean peninsula have been lowered, adding that its proposals of military talks last July remain valid.
