The Ulchi Freedom Guardian is an annual joint military exercise between South Korea and the US.

(VOVworld) – South Korea and the US ended the “Ulchi Freedom Guardian” joint military exercise Thursday, one day ahead of schedule in order to ease tensions on the Korean peninsula. The South Korea-US Combined Forces Command said the two armies completed all planned military exercises. The joint military exercise was scheduled to take place from August 18 to 29, despite North Korea’s opposition and threats. Seoul proposed high-level talks with Pyongyang before the exercise, but received no reply.
