(VOVworld) - South Korea and the United States agreed on Thursday to enact "swift punitive measures" against North Korea in the event of further provocation, although the United States signaled that sanctions and diplomatic pressure are its priorities for now.

The two countries agreed on a number of sanctions, including a resolution by the UN Security Council, if North Korea carries out any more provocative acts on the Korean Peninsula. South Korea and the US said they will cooperate with the world community, including China, to put additional pressure on North Korea. North Korea has threatened to conduct a 6^th nuclear test and more ballistic missile launches.
