South Korean ferry disaster: 18 died, 278 missing

(VOVworld)- At least 18 people were confirmed dead on Thursday and 278 others missing after a ferry carrying 475 people capsized in the Southwestern of South Korean sea on Wednesday. South Korea’s Disaster Management Agency of Public Administration and Security Ministry and coastguards are urgently deploying search and rescue activities for the missing as many survivors may have still stuck inside the ferry. The 6,000 ton-multi-deck ferry Seawol can accommodate maximum of one thousand people. Made by Japan in 1994, the ferry sunk on Wednesday on its way from Incheon port City to popular island resort of Jeju.
