State organization, personnel tops agenda of NA session
(VOVworld) – The National Assembly Office convened a media conference on Tuesday in Hanoi to outline the first session of the 14th National Assembly.

Held from July 20 to July 29, the session will reserve 6 days to decide on State organization and high ranking personnel. The NA will listen to the National Election Council’s report on the results of the elections of deputies to the 14th National Assembly and People’s Councils for 2016-2021 term and the verification of deputies’ eligibility. The legislature will elect a NA chairperson, NA vice chairs, members of the NA Standing Committee, heads of the NA committees, the President, Prime Minister, Vice President and cabinet members. Over 2 days, the NA will discuss the government’s report on the implementation of socio-economic tasks in the first half of this year and solutions for the rest of the year. The legislature will also adopt a NA resolution on law and ordinance building and the NA’s supervisory program for 2017. Nguyen Hanh Phuc, Secretary General of the National Assembly and Head of the NA Office, said:“In this 14th tenure, the number of reelected deputies account for 35%, the highest over the past 3 tenures. Many of the deputies are working in the justice sector. The deputies have been trained in law making processes. 94% of the deputies have had tertiary education and 62% have had postgraduate education. No tenure has such a contingent of competent deputies”.
Mr. Phuc added that top priority will be given to devising laws that enable Vietnam to integrate further into the world, create favorable environment for businesses, and fight corruption.
