The Ministry of Health said that in order for a vaccine passport holder to be accepted for entry, travelers must have certification by an authorized agency of a state for having completed COVID-19 shots within at least 2 weeks and no more than 12 months from the last shot.
People entering and leaving Vietnam should have a QR code or a certification of the COVID-19 vaccination. They will be instructed suitable quarantine measures.
Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam told the meeting that the roadmap for opening the border should be implemented early and safely. He asked the Ministry of Health to give detailed recommendations to push ahead with vaccination and implement the goals of pandemic prevention and economic development.
“At present, technology is ready for implementing the vaccine passport. The Steering Committee agrees that in order to move forward, we have to take advantage of time to open for development and categorize countries. The Ministry of Health has specific quarantine instructions for entrants from different countries. The Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, are cooperating on a roadmap to open tourism for specific groups from countries which have controlled the pandemic,” Mr. Dam said.
Vietnam has not yet applied the vaccine passport. People entering the country must undergo a 14-day quarantine and at least two tests on the first and the last day of the quarantine period.
