Steering Committee urges COVID vaccination as soon as possible
(VOVWORLD) -The Ministry of Health should quickly allocate vaccines to western and central highlands provinces as a variety of vaccines have arrived in Vietnam in large quantity.
Experts at a meeting on Wednesday of the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control called for long-term strategy in pandemic control and raising public awareness about preventive measures as well as primary healthcare assurance. Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, Deputy Head of the Committee, called for flexible measures in detection and isolation and early vaccination for kids.
“Kids should go to school as prolonged online learning affected their development. In principle, kids in green zones are able to go to school and local authorities should arrange their school visits if possible. The WHO has recommended vaccination for kids from 12 to 17. Vietnam has provided early vaccination for children but we should not go against the WHO recommendation,” Mr. Dam said.
The campaign to vaccinate against COVID-19 for children aged 12-17 was officially launched from the beginning of November 2021 across the country.
By Wednesday, Vietnam administered a total of more than 84 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines, including 25.6 million second doses, according to the Ministry of Health.
