On Saturday, Singapore finished first in the men's 4x100m freestyle, followed by Malaysia and Vietnam, but a judge disqualified Singapore and Malaysia because one of their swimmers left the block early. This gave Vietnam the gold medal.
According to the SEA Games 31 organizers, Schooling was not the one who made the mistake. It was Jonathan Tan who started 0.05 seconds before his teammate Quah Zheng Wen touched. Regulations say a swimmer can start no more than 0.03 seconds early. Singh Chahal made the mistake for Malaysia starting 0.12 seconds early.
