After his meeting with UN Special Envoy to Syria Staffan de Mistura, al-Jaafari said the attack was not only a military terrorist attack but also a political attack that has cast a shadow over Geneva talks. UN Syrian Envoy Mistura said the Homs terror attack was a plot to derail the peace talks but all the parties committed to fight terrorism and ensure a political process in Syria.
On Saturday, simultaneous suicide bombings targeted separate areas across the western city of Homs killed at least 42 people, including a Syrian top intelligence chief. The Jabhat Fateh al-Sham terrorist group, formerly known as a branch of al-Qaeda in Syria, claimed responsibility for the attacks.
