(VOVworld) – 9 violations of Syria’s ceasefire were reported but on the whole, the ceasefire in Syria is being respected, according to the head of Russia’s coordination centre in Syria, Lieutenant General Sergei Kuralenko.

The cessation of hostilities brokered by Russia and the US took effect at midnight on February 27. Hours later, shells struck residential areas in Damascus. The Russian Defense Ministry blamed the violations on moderate opposition groups and affiliates of terror groups.
