Syrian opposition members start Moscow talks
(VOVworld) – Syrian opposition
figures on Monday began four days of talks in Moscow on how to end the near four-year
conflict. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, Mikhail Bogdanov said that 25
members of the Syrian opposition took part at the talk started at 11 am Moscow time (0800 GMT). The
opposition members, led by former UN envoy Lakhdar Brahimi, would negotiate
among themselves for two days before Syrian government representatives Bashar Jaafari join the talks on
Wednesday.

Participation at the talk was only Syrian opposition figures but no
international organization representative. But the main exiled opposition
alliance, the National Coalition, is not attending the Moscow talks.
Earlier, a source from the Syrian National Council said that any talk
should take place at a neutral country with the witness of the UN. This
statement is considered as implying Russia of being the biggest
supporter of President Assad.
