The gifts will be delivered within the next two weeks. On Saturday, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Xuan Cuong made a fact-finding tour of areas devastated by typhoon Damrey last November. The strongest storm to hit Vietnam’s central region over the past 10 years killed more than 100 people and caused losses of more than one billion USD.

“We have inspected the process of rebuilding houses for the storm victims. We are providing all available material and emotional support to ensure a joyful Tet for them,” Minister Cuong said.

In the northern region, Cao Bang provincial authorities are hosting a program called "Border Spring" to provide gifts, scholarship, clothes and blankets to poor families and policy beneficiaries in the border area.
