(VOVworld) - The U.S. on Monday said it considered China’s unveiling of its new air defense identification zone, or ADIZ, as a move to cause unnecessary territorial tension with Japan. White House spokesman Josh Earnest stressed the need to resolve the pending regional disputes diplomatically. Earnest said in this case there should be plenty of overlapping common ground to reach a resolution that doesn't involve inflammatory, escalating rhetoric or policy pronouncements by any side.

The spokesman said Washington would not accept Beijing’s declaration adding that the country’s planes will fly over the space without registering flight timetables and identification in advance as required by China.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry on the same day stated that it had exchanged diplomatic notes with the US Embassy in China to raise official objections against Washington’s response to the ADIZ. According to Chinese spokesperson Qin Gang, China’s establishment of the zone in the East China Sea is in line with the United Nations Charter and international laws.
